The Intercantonal Reinsurance Association (IRV in German: "Interkantonale Rückversicherungsverband") provides the Public Insurance Companies for Real Estate (KVG in German: "Kantonalen Gebäudeversicherungen") with reinsurance services in the areas of fire and natural disasters.
The reinsurance of the IRV covers the major risks to which KGVs are exposed and compensates for fluctuations in long-term damage patterns. Thanks to the IRV, the KGVs can optimize their claims settlement. This unique system of solidarity ensures effective risk compensation among participants.

Positive business and financial result
The profit before profit sharing of the Intercantonal Reinsurance Association (IRV) for the financial year 2019 in the amount of CHF 136.5M is evidence of a very pleasing course of business. The IRV was able to benefit from an extremely favorable environment for both reinsurance and financial investments.
