Interkantonaler Rückversicherungsverband (IRV)
The Inter-cantonal Reinsurance Association ( IRV ) offers reinsurance services in the areas of fire and natural disasters . As an inter-cantonal, public-law corporation, the IRV is not profit-oriented and operates exclusively for the cantonal building insurances ( P / E ) in Switzerland. Covering the IRV covers the risk potential of building insurance. The IRV is thus part of a comprehensive security system in favor of the Swiss population.
In the area of catastrophe losses as a result of natural hazards, there is a shared risk sharing among all P / E ratios and the IRV. At the center of this joint risk sharing is the Intercantonal Risk Community Elementary ( IRG ). This is a loss pool in which the 18 KGV and the IRV participate. Without the IRG , building insurance would be left to its own devices in the event of major elementary damage that exceeds conventional reinsurance cover.
The other activities of the IRV include advising the P / E in matters of risk management, long-term statistical analyzes, evaluations of relevant loss events, but also the management of capital investments as well as residential and commercial premises.
